Who is the greatest sahabi of them all? Please provide evidence from Quran and Sunnah to back up your answer.

THERE ARE DIFFERENCES OF OPINION ON WHO IS THE MOST SUPERIOR COMPANION. AND THIS DIFFERENCE OF OPINION IS A VALID DIFFERENCE. SOME NARRATIONS INDICATE THAT SAYYIDDINA ABU BAKR AS-SIDDIQ IS MOST SUPERIOR WHILST OTHERS NARRATE SAYYIDDINA ALI AL-MURTADA (AS) IS BEING THE MOST SUPERIOR. SOME HAVE SAID SAYYIDDINA JAFAR BIN ABI TALIB (AS) AND OTHERS HAVE SAID SAYYIDDINA ABDULLAH BIN UMAR. THERE IS NO CONSENSUS ON THIS ISSUE AND FURTHER MORE IT IS NOT A NECCESSITY OF DEEN TO KNOW WHO IS THE GREATEST. WE WILL NOT BE QUESTIONED ABOUT THIS ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT NOR WILL WE BE QUESTIONED IN THE GRAVE.

This is an unimportant question with regards to the necessities of Deen. Various scholars believe that different Sahabis were the greatest. However, the majority of Sunnis today believe that Hazarat Abu Bakr was the Greatest. Please note this is just the opinion of the majority and not an itjma.
