This document presents information on the exciting project of purchasing a building on this, the first Ahle Sunnat Wa’l Jama’at mosque and community centre in Gloucester. May ALLAH reward you immeasurably for your help.
Executive Summary
A group of dedicated local Muslims living in Gloucester (UK) have been looking to secure a much needed place of worship and community centre for the local Sunni Muslim community. Currently, there are three local Deobandi mosques, but sadly Sunni’s do not have any place of worship, and have to hire premises locally for important prayers e.g. Taraweeh and Eid prayers.
There is therefore a great need for a place of worship for this Sunni population, along with much needed community services e.g. teaching Islam to our children and adults alike. In Gloucester, we do not have a place where we can practice Fatiha on our deceased, congregate for prayers, remember the beloved Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Alihi Wa Sallam and pious scholars (such as Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani r.a. and Imam Ahmed Raza Khan r.a.). This place will enable us to invite great scholars of Ahle Sunnat Wa’l Jama’at to come and enlighten us with their knowledge.
In September 2010, the Ghousia Islamic Centre (GIC) was formed to spearhead the campaign for a suitable facility. GIC is a non-for-profit making organisation and its main objective is to secure a place of worship and community centre for the Muslims in Gloucester. In this short duration we have already encountered much toil and labour and after overcoming numerous hurdles and with ALLAH’S help and guidance, a brother has agreed to lease part of College with an agreement of giving us opportunity to purchase this premises based on Derby Road, Gloucester.
Any brothers and sisters who can support this cause please help us establish a Sunni centre here, we are in dire need of your support.
