Asslamu-alaykum WRB

Dear respected brother and sisters,

I have a question which has been haunting me for sometime. When I began my study I firmly developed myself around Peer Sahib and Dr Tahir Ul Qadri's talks. Recently, I came across a youtube clip where Peer Sahib condemned calling all Wahabi, Deobandi and Shia's kafirs - they used an example of Imam Ahmed Raza Khan r.a. not giving a fatwa on Ismail Dehlvi (but the reason for this was that Ismail Dehlvi was dead and could not be given opportunity to do tauba and some rumours stated he had repented for his kufriya work). This has left me a little miffed as to what Peer Sahib stance is on this, I have come across many scholars who have stated it is not compulsory to call them kafir but through the Love of Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Alihi Wa Sallam and their gustakh beliefs it is permissable to call them kafir/munafiq. From the past I know Peer sahib had a firm stance against these people, what has changed? I been meaning to contact Peer sahib in Walthamstow, but its difficult for me to visit them due to circumstances. If someone can address this question for me, I will appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. I dont question Peer sahib, I just want to ensure my belief that all wahabi/deobandi/shias are kafir is not a kufriya belief and for me Peer sahib is the encyclapedia of Islam today, only they can address my concern.

Many apologies for any inconvenience caused,

Jazakallah Khair

w. salaam dear brother,

Hazrat sahib has clearly and disntinctly written a chapter in his book 'zubda al-tahqiq' volume one about takfir. it is not that specific people cannot be called kafir but rather as a jama't/group [min hathul jama'at] you cannot call all wahabis or all shias kafir. there is no blanket kufr on a whole sect. Takfir is an extremely serious matter, one must be absolutely sure of a person's kufr.

the best i can do is to direct you towards that book, which is available at our sister site yanabi.com on the front page. if you cannot read urdu then you will have to wait for the english edition; which will be available only after the second, and perhaps, the thrid volume of the book. wassalam.

Any wahabis who deny Noor o Bashr/Haazir Naazir/ilm e ghaib are kafirs as they are denying Quran and Hadith and in process lowering status of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Alihi Wa Sallam. Anyone who agrees with the above beliefs or thinks those beliefs are ok, can also be regarded as kafir through Quranic and proof. Any wahabi/deobandi who do not hold the above beliefs and those not believe the above beliefs are acceptable should not be regarded as a kafir :-) (not sure if there are such wahabi/deobandis though).

Salaam,

Br sunni soldier, I beg to differ with your goodself regarding kufr of those who deny belief in haazir naazir/noor o bashar/or ilmul ghaib. It is not the way of Ahlus Sunnah to excommuinicate muslims who deny the above but rather they are seen as misguided or heretical. It has become quite a fashion to make takfir of deobandis and wahabis and as exciting as it may be for some, it is very dangerous pastime. By labelling an entire jamaah as kuffar, you are following the way of the khwaarij to some extent. Sayyiduna Khwaja Golarvi Syed Mehr e Ali Chishti Jilani (r.a) was an Ahlus Sunnah heavy weight, respected and honoured by Sunnis and non-Sunnis alike. He alone was responsible for breaking the back bone of Ahmadiat/Qadianiat in the sub continent. He lived around the time that hostilities were at their highest beween sunnis and deobandis. On the issue of takfir of deobandis, he remained silent and it is reported of him that throughout his life he NEVER made takfir on anybody except Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani. If a noble, honourable and well learned man such as Syed Mehr e Ali (R.A) can remain silent, then who are we to make takfir of these groups?

May The Peace Of Allah (swt) Be Upon Sayyiddina Muhammad His Family, His Companions and Those Who Follow Them Until The Day Of Judgement. Wasalaam Ghulam e Meeran Qadri Jilani
