Belgian parliament puts a ban on the burka

Yesterday's vote was almost unanimous with 134 MPs in supporting the ban and two abstentions.

The law if passed in the upper house, will ban women from wearing the full Islamic face veil in public.

Many MPs backed the ban on the grounds of security, saying the police cannot identify the women.

Other MPs claimed the full face veil was a symbol of the oppression .

It seems the Belgium parliament have decided to become the fashion police .
