first of all, it is highly esoteric idea. it only makes sense for those who tread the path of mysticism and experience it first hand. it is like describing how coffee tastes? can you for example describe it to the one who has not tasted it? can explain to a blind by birth, what the colour blue looks like or even explain what the idea of colour is? the answer is No!
so, to understand wahdat al-wujud as pantheism is the biggest mistake people have made especially literalist fringe amongst muslims such as ibn taymiyya; who actually believed God to be in a direction and sitting upon a throne with a physical body as reported by imam ibn hajar al-asqalani and confirmed by another independent witness Ibn Batuta in his contemporary travelogue, not to mention his direct works but that is another topic altogether. the point here is that those who considered shaykh al-akbar mohiyudin ibn arabi as kafir etc have their tawhid in a tangle.
unitary of existence or whadat al-wujud belongs to the realm of Ruh/soul and its unveiling of a reality that cannot be grasped by reason.
however, the books of shaykh al-akbar have been tampered with as vouched by, for example, shaykh abd al-haq dehlavi in his takmil al-imaan. fusus al-hikam has been corrupted by zanadiqa but shaykh al-akbar's major volumous work al-futuhat is where we should focus for that clarification about the idea of wahdat al-wujud and later on by sadr al-din shirazi, who was a shia philosopher and follower of shaykha al-akbar in this idea, although i only mention him for his adherence and not for glorification as we are ahl al-sunna. also many notable personalities amongst ahl al-sunna have also written on the subject such al-qaunawi etc.
furthermore, since its a subjective matter and you want answers in a literal sense; which cannot be provided so i suggest, please go and seek tafsir of the following ayah and hadith qudsi as a start:
"But when he came to it, he was called from the right side of the valley in a blessed spot - from the tree, "O Moses, indeed I am Allah , Lord of the worlds." 28:30
and also the following hadith qudsi from bukhari of mohammed bin ismael:
"when a slave becomes close to me, I become his eyes with which he sees, his ears with which he hears, his mouth with which he speaks, his hands with which he grasps, his feet with which he walks"
