Salaam All,

I recently started to practice and now want to learn my deen in its entirety.
I understand that there is a certain amount of basic knowledge that is obligatory for me to learn.
I think that is basic Aqeedah and then a fair amount of Fiqh.
can someone please tell me on how much of Aqeedah to learn and any books also how much of Fiqh.

After that what else I can do to learn deen?

thanks a lot in advance for everyone that will help me.

Assalamu alaikum wa Rahmatullah

Alhamdulilllah it is indeed a great blessing and favor of Allah Subhana Wata'alah upon you that He has guided you to himself by instilling in you the thirst to learn your deen.

It is Indeed Fardh upon us all to know that much of sacred knowledge that will enable us to discharge our duties to Allah Subhana Wata'alah. This list will change as you one goes through life. Below are some recommendations.

Aqidah - Aqidah Tahawiyyah (can be downloaded from the net)

This is a very easy to understand text, however it would still be best if you go over it with a qualified teacher as there are a few things that need to be explained in their historical context.

For further study you could try Imam Abu Hanifa's Al-Fiqh al-Akbar. This is a more detailed book looking at some of the nuances within Aqidah. This book ideally needs to be studied with a teacher. This by far is not an exhaustive book on the subject, rather far from it.

Fiqh - Maraqi al Sa’adat Imam al' Shurunbulali (ascent to felicity) I have seen this translated somewhere on the internet. This is the commentary on the much larger Nur al Idah also by the same author. Maraqi al Sa'adat is in my opinion right for beginners as it’s clear, concise without being over-burdensome with fine points that will overwhelm the beginner. Once this is studied you will have understood what is needed to perform your daily duties in a sound way.

Nur al Idah - This book is a more detailed analysis of Hanafi Fiqh from the same author. However the chapters on Zakat and Hajj where not included in this book by Imam Shurunbulali. This book is taught in the classical madrassa system along with the two listed below

Mukhtasar Quduri by Abu’l-Hasan al-Quduri is a classic text that is the first text taught in Madrassas the world over. It is easier to grasp than Nur ul Idah

Al-Hidayah by al-Marghinani This book stands alone in fiqh studies and is arguably the last word in Hanafi Fiqh. This book is an advanced book on fiqh that fosters an intimate relationship between teacher and studied due to the way it is structured and taught.

The only reason I have limited it to these three for you is that they are the ones that are more readily available in the English language.

Below are links from where you can download Nur ul Idah and Quduri.

Please let us know how you found the books, or if you need more assistance.
